Vanakkam, or welcome to The Tamil Dietitian! This is a page I created to inspire fellow South Asians like me to find joy in eating traditional dishes, with a dietetic viewpoint to maximise nutritional potential! Learn a little bit more about me below!

Tamil Cuisine and Nutrition

The traditional South Asian diet is full of superfoods that provide ample benefits to your health and wellbeing; even the everyday spices in a South Asian household such as ginger (இஞ்சி), turmeric (மஞ்சள்) and fennel (பெருஞ்சீரகம்) have scientific based evidence boasting its nutritional benefits.

Utilising typical cultural produce such as bitter gourd (பாகற்காய்), elephant foot yam (கருணைக்கிழங்கு) and aubergine (கத்திரிக்காய்) can provide you with nutrients and health benefits just like western produce, and you still get to taste the exquisite flavours on your tongue that only a home meal can give you
